Peace – it’s important

October 15, 2013 Leave a comment

It’s hard to stay peaceful in the world we live in today.  there’s just so much work pressure, relational issues and much more that takes away our peace.

But it’s important to practice it.  God wants us to have peace within ourselves and towards others.

Genesis 26 : 19-24 (NLT)

19 Isaac’s servants also dug in the Gerar Valley and discovered a well of fresh water. 20 But then the shepherds from Gerar came and claimed the spring. “This is our water,” they said, and they argued over it with Isaac’s herdsmen. So Isaac named the well Esek (which means “argument”). 21 Isaac’s men then dug another well, but again there was a dispute over it. So Isaac named it Sitnah (which means “hostility”). 22 Abandoning that one, Isaac moved on and dug another well. This time there was no dispute over it, so Isaac named the place Rehoboth (which means “open space”), for he said, “At last the Lord has created enough space for us to prosper in this land.”

23 From there Isaac moved to Beersheba, 24 where the Lord appeared to him on the night of his arrival. “I am the God of your father, Abraham,” he said. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you. I will multiply your descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will do this because of my promise to Abraham, my servant.”

Isaac kept his peace, and just went to another spot to dig for a well.  Even after the second one, he just kept his peace and went to look for another spot.  Eventually God provided and gave him a well. He was then blessed with a flourishing family later on.  We shouldn’t question the “irritating” things we encounter, it could be a blessing in disguise.

Jesus also says the following:

John 14:27 (NLT)

27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

We shouldn’t worry ourselves about the things of this world, keep the peace God gave us and trust in Him.

James 3:18 (NLT)

18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

If we make an effort to sow peace in everything we encounter, we will reap the rewards.  It’s not always easy, but like any challenge, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Peace keeps our hearts open to receive the Holy spirit and to lead us.

In every encounter, just remind yourself that God will take you through it with His peace.

Have a blessed evening!

Workmanship

Who would use a watch if it isn’t working properly? It’s seen as worthless as you cannot use it for anything else.

And its the same without God in our lives… We will find worldly things that will satisfy us temporarily, but in the long run you will still feel empty.  Just like a watch needs all it’s gears to function, we need God to function.

When fixing a watch, you get what you pay for.  If you take the watch to get fixed at the corner shop (worldly satisfaction) you can expect it to break again soon.  But if you take it to the original manufacturing company to fix (Jesus), you can expect to receive a fixed watch or a completely new one if it’s beyond repair as you normally get a warranty on them.

Jesus is our warranty.  He replaced our sinful lives by dying on the cross so that we could have another chance.  He fixes us when we are broken and fills our lives with a purpose.  There is nothing on earth that will satisfy you the way Jesus can.

Ask God to forgive your sins and to show you what to focus on so that you can be a working element for His will on earth.

For those who find me, finds life and receive favor from the Lord. (Proverbs 8:35 NIV)

But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death.” (Proverbs 8:36 NIV)

May God’s angels be with you! Have a great and blessed week!
