Importance of Love

January 4, 2014 2 comments

Dear believers in Christ,

Do you remember the young believer in you?  The day and few months after you gave your heart to God, through Jesus?  You had an immense love for Christ, didn’t you? (Maybe you still have it, that’s awesome, but there’s allot that has forgotten about it)

If you’re feeling empty, but that you’re trying hard to fill the emptiness by doing more FOR God then read the below.  I realized this in my own life and it’s so true.

First lets read a few verses from The Bible:

Revelation 2

New Living Translation (NLT)

The Message to the Church in Ephesus

1“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Ephesus. This is the message from the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand, the one who walks among the seven gold lampstands:

“I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. You have patiently suffered for me without quitting.

“But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!Look how far you have fallen! Turn back to me and do the works you did at first. If you don’t repent, I will come and remove your lampstand from its place among the churches. But this is in your favor: You hate the evil deeds of the Nicolaitans, just as I do.

“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.

In the 7 verses above, I learned that, even though we are doing the works on earth FOR God, we have forgotten about doing things WITH God.  It’s more important for God to have a relationship with us than us doing things on earth FOR Him.  Don’t get me wrong, He needs us on earth to do His will.  But It’s more important for Him to have us close to Him.

And that’s what I have noticed, in the beginning of our “new lives” in Christ, we love and adore Him, but after a while we get caught up in the works FOR God.  And we start spending less time with God.

Take this parable as an example :

a Man gets a lady to fall in love with him, in order to let her fall in love with him, he spends time with her, buys her things, looks after her, respects her and shows her love.  They get married and he now starts working in order to keep on impressing his wife by supporting her financially… He becomes so focused on making more and more money to “look after” his wife that he starts neglecting the relationship between them, they end up getting a divorce because the love they had disappeared  due to negligence and focus on other things.

I believe you get my point? We still love God, but we are so focused on doing the right thing for Him on earth in order to earn our way into heaven ( I know that’s not the case) rather than just knowing we HAVE a place in heaven through our relationship with Jesus Christ who died on the cross for us!

Matthew 6:33

New Living Translation (NLT)

33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

Above verse says clearly, seek God first and then all else will be given to you.

The word SEEK means:

“to search for something/someone” : try to find a person, thing, or place.

“head towards something”: to go to or towards a place or thing.

So should we not always seek God first and then do the rest?  In order to love someone, you need to spend time with them and have a relationship with them.  This is true in our personal lives with friends and spouses, isn’t it? So obviously it’s the same with our relationship with God…

Love is the most important thing for God. He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins… Love must definitely mean something to God…

1 Corinthians 13

New Living Translation (NLT)

Love Is the Greatest

13 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.

The above verse proves what I’ve been talking about.  We can do all the works on earth for God.  But if you do not have love it’s all meaningless…

Always work on your relationship with Christ and all else will come to you…

Be Blessed Believers!

Anxiety and worries? Why?

Matthew 6:26

New Living Translation (NLT)

26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are?

There is so much worry and anxiety out there in the world.  And I thought that I would share the above verse with you all that I got from God today.  Is this not true?  If He provides food to the birds, animals and plants on earth, would He not provide us with our needs?  He created earth and everything on it for US.  So He will definitely look out for us as well.  In our busy lives that we live in today it’s hard not to have anxiety or worries because we are pressured by something or someone around every corner, but we need to keep the above verse in our minds and remember that God will not put you into something that He will not take you through.  There is an unexplainable reason for everything that happens and we only find out what the reason for these things are when we are supposed to. (And it’s always after it has happened) But in the end we understand why certain things happened the way they did and end up being happier or better off…

So, remember that you are more important to God than the plants and the creatures and yet He looks after them as well.

Stay blessed and I trust that the above verse will take you through every anxious encounter.
