How can you believe, You ask?

August 22, 2013 Leave a comment

Last night in our prayer group, one of the guys told us a story where he was talking to someone at his place of work about Jesus, and the guy said that he doesn’t believe in Jesus.  So he asked the guy,” do you agree that wind exists?” and the guy said “Yes, you can feel it when you walk outside”.  So he told the guy, “If you believe that wind exists, and you cannot physically see wind, why not believe in Jesus? Because one can feel Jesus as well”.

Psalm 18:28-29 (NLT)

28 You light a lamp for me.
The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.
29 In your strength I can crush an army;
with my God I can scale any wall.

This was a truly remarkable story for me, because just like you cannot see wind, you cannot physically see Jesus, but just like you can feel the wind, you will feel Jesus inside of you… And if people can agree that wind exists, then why and how can some people say that God does not exist??? And I can truly vouch on that, If you have God in your life, you can truly feel Him doing greatness  within and around you!

Just blogging about this makes me want to shout out the name of Jesus!     ( )  ( )

Be Blessed in Jesus name!                                                                                \——/

Sacrifices

Do you truly sacrifice things of this world in order to spend time with God?

God gave me the following scripture to blog about this morning:

Leviticus 3:6 Fellowship offering (NIV)

“If you present an animal from the flock as a peace-offering to the Lord, it may be a male or a female, but it must have no defects.

The above gives us the standards they had to follow to when they made a sacrifice to the Lord.  And the heading of this chapter is “Fellowship Offering”  so this tells us that they had to sacrifice something in order to be closer to God.  Now it’s not necessary for us to offer sacrifices anymore as Jesus died on the Cross, but what I think God wants us to take from this is that, he wants us to sacrifice things that are close to us, in order to spend some time in either worship or bible studies.  We can easily offer up the time we normally have for studying or doing chores, but have you ever considered giving up the time you spend watching TV, or when fasting, you decide to literally not watch TV for a few days or not eat any “worldly snacks” like chocolates, carbonated drinks etc?   You need to sit and think of the things that are important in your life and start making an effort in offering some of those things up in order to spend more time with God.  In the end, it’s Him supplying us with all we have…

Serving others

August 13, 2013 1 comment

Jesus served His disciples before He went on the cross. John 13: 3-17 tells us this.

John 13:3-17

3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”

10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place.”Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

If Jesus had authority over us, and still served us then shouldn’t we do it for each other?  And above doing it, it says in verse 17 that we will be blessed if we do so… We do not deserve it, yet God gives it to us if we obey.  That’s love! We should start practicing that kind of love with each other.  And it starts by serving each other. It doesn’t mean we should wash each others feet… But by doing things that we are capable of, like for example, if i know of an opportunity for a job and there is somebody you know that needs it, you should try to help them out. Giving directions, smiling, being polite etc. all contributes to “the serving of others”

Go and practice this a bit.

You are free. Free indeed. Psalm 81:6
