Leaving behind the past

Lets put the story of the Israelite’s that were taken out of Egypt into context:

When they were in Egypt they were slaves, doing whatever the king of Egypt told them to do.  They were working extremely hard, paying high taxes, not allowed to serve whom they wanted etc 0_0

So the living standards were pretty hectic, yet when God took them out of Egypt they started wishing they stayed in Egypt… Because there they had some food and a house etc.

This happens in our daily lives as well. We moan about our conditions, then God comes and takes us out of it, but now we need to start doing extra(building relationship with God, going to Church, reading the Bible, stop drinking, stop smoking etc etc…) and we wish we never asked for help…

We cannot expect God to do everything for us and just lay back and take everything.  He has done soooo much already that we do not even deserve anything else.  We didn’t even deserve the Cross..  But He loved us so much that He sacrificed His only Son for OUR sins… I mean really.. who else would do that…

My point is, that if we want something from God, we need to take action and go through tribulations in order to get to the blessings. God will never put you through something if He knows you won’t make it through… Put your faith in Him and you will prosper.

John 5:5-9 NIV

Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals.  Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades.  Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed.  One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.  When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

In the above scripture you can read that this man did not get healed in 38 years… mmm, really? Could he not have made a plan in 38 years?  You see, it was nice for him to sit there and beg for money, food etc.  Jesus instructed him to STAND UP in order to get healed.  So if he kept on sitting he would not have received the healing…  We need to take action before we can get results.  God will always be there to help us, but it’s not His fault if nothing happens, if we’re the ones not doing anything..

Throw away your past and look ahead.  You can break free from your past, you just need to ask God to show you the road and start walking it. He will equip you with the right shoes, water bottle, hat and food for the trip. But you need to TAKE the trip in order to get there, otherwise the gear God gives you renders useless.

I hope this inspired you, as it really got me going!

Be Blessed and be a Blessing

“but it’s not His fault if nothing happens, if we’re the ones not doing anything..” So true. I have been preaching that line to people for a few months now. Pray alone is not going to save us, it also takes action on our own part. God Bless!
