Proverbs – The basics of living a life with discipline and wisdom (Front to end of Proverbs)

Hi family,

Wisdom is a very important aspect of a Christian, don’t you think?

So I feel we should go through The Book of Proverbs. We will start the first one with an introduction of Proverbs.

Proverbs 1: 1-7 (NLT)

1 These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel.

Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline,
to help them understand the insights of the wise.
Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives,
to help them do what is right, just, and fair.
These proverbs will give insight to the simple,
knowledge and discernment to the young.

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser.
Let those with understanding receive guidance
by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables,
the words of the wise and their riddles.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

The Encarta dictionary describes Proverbs as “a short well-known saying that expresses an obvious truth and often offers advice.”

Even a worldly dictionary gives a very persuasive description of the word… So I think we can follow the advise from this Book in the Bible.

Proverbs is filled with lots of good advice on how to live our lives.  It’s the way God wants us to live it.  You can call Proverbs the “How to live life for dummy’s” haha.  I just thought that this posting could use some humor…

So please enjoy the next few months of Proverbs with me.  Feel free to share it with friends and family.  I don’t think there’s anyone out there that can say they truly already live their lives perfectly with 100% wisdom and discipline…?

The last verse of Proverbs 1 says the foundation that you should start with, is with the fear of The Lord… so do you fear God out of respect and adoration? Start working and meditating on that in your private prayer times and really get to the point where that is a reality.

Much love and grace for the NEW YEAR!! May you and your family be abundantly blessed and always carry God’s presence on your shoulders!

Have a great last few days of 2012!
